Kenyans for Change is an idea center, catalyst
and national voice for a reform movement that
seeks to define and galvanize popular support
for a new public philosophy built on progressive
ideas and mainstream values.
Through its network of experts, reformers and
change agents, Kenyans for change aims to
reinvent Government so that it is more
responsive, effective and accountable to the tax
payers who support it.
Founded in 2008, Kenyans for Change is a vehicle
for citizens to make their voices heard in the
political process and hold elected officials
accountable to the public interest. We have
become one of the most active, effective, and
respected nonprofit organizations working for
Social, economic and political change in Kenya.
Now with over 5,000 members, supporters and
change agents within a global network, we remain
committed to honest, open and accountable
government while encouraging citizen
participation in democracy.
At the center of the movement are three guiding
principles:
Equal Opportunity for All.
Special Privilege for none.
Accountability
from All. |
Our vision is to revive and to restore hope in the Kenyan
dream. The Kenyan dream is:
·
A progressive Kenya with sound leadership
devoted to the eradication of poverty and
illiteracy and promotion of healthcare.
·
A free Kenya where every citizen is entitled to
equal opportunity to thrive regardless of
gender, religion, age or tribal origin.
·
A united Kenya in which citizens and leaders
promote a national identity that encourages
informed and active civic participation through
collective engagement in social, economic and
political empowerment.
·
A cohesive Kenya in which each citizen sees
themselves as a part of the whole; committed to
community service through charitable work and
the true spirit of harambee. |

Our mission is to unite all Kenyans, strengthen and promote a
national identity, and advocate for a social and
political culture that unlocks the potential of
our nation and people. Kenyans for Change
will support, enable and empower Kenyans to take
ownership of the political process and
contribute to progress in their communities. |
We believe that all men are created equal and
for that reason must be guaranteed equal rights.
Among these are Freedom, justice, and security.
We believe in a Democratic System that affords
equal opportunity to all, special privilege to
none and fair representation for every Kenyan
regardless of gender, religion, age or tribal
origin.
We believe that government programs should be
grounded in the values that our founding fathers
envisioned: These are work, family, personal
responsibility, individual freedom, faith,
tolerance, and inclusion.
Unity:
We believe in a united Kenya. Our conviction in
a sense of community based on the belief that we
can only achieve our individual goals if we
share a commitment to our national destiny.
Peace:
We believe in the message of
peace and non-violence. The means
we use in our cause must be as noble as the end
we seek.
Integrity:
We believe that a nation or people will progress
if they conduct themselves with integrity in all
affairs. |

1. Personal Responsibility: You and I working
Together
Each of us has to do our part, sacrifice and come together
with the realization that we all have a role to
play in the change that we seek. Kenyans for
change offers every citizen the opportunity to
contribute to the betterment of our society.
2. Accountability: Transparency and Equal Representation
Kenyans for Change will seek to promote policies that demand
a new ethic of responsibility within government
spending and fiscal accountability.
We will seek to restore the core values of democracy within
our political system by reinventing an open,
honest and accountable government that serves
public interest, and empowers ordinary people to
make their voices heard in the political
process. |

"Umoja ni Nguvu”
Today's political climate demands a citizens
lobby that is strongly and effectively engaged,
providing a watchful eye and demanding
accountability of its leaders. We must be ever
vigilant, and able to quickly seize timely
opportunities as well as persistently pursue
long-term reform efforts.
To fight for the reforms so critical to our
democracy, we employ a number of strategies,
both internally as well as in coalition with our
partners and other stakeholders, including
lobbying, public education, grassroots and press
outreach at the national, state and local level.
We will leverage the power of our change agents
and the credibility of the organization to
assure that our voices are heard by those in
government. |
Kenyans for Change is financed, in large part,
by the dues and contributions of our individual
members belonging to Local Chapters.
Because Kenyans for Change is a Lobbying
501(c) (4) non-profit organization, donations
are not tax deductible.
The Kenyans for Change Foundation, our 501(c)
(3) affiliate, conducts research, education, and
outreach activities and is supported by
foundation grants and tax-deductible
contributions from individuals and institutions.
The combined annual operating budget of Kenyans
for Change and the Kenyans for Change Foundation
is approximately $1 million.
